Better understand what is available in children’s literature on the topic of loss in order to make an educated choice when the need arises. Explore ways of categorizing, reading, and engaging with different literature genres as they depict various types of loss (e.g., death, moving away, loss of pets, separation, etc.). Become more equipped to discern the intended purpose of each piece of literature. Practice how to effectively incorporate and utilize literature when discussing sensitive topics with children. Parents, grandparents, family members, educators, childcare workers, and adults who enjoy reading to children are especially encouraged and welcome to join.
